Since its beginning as the Junior Women’s Club in 1964, the Junior League of Fort Collins has established and supported hundreds of programs and efforts to improve our community. A sample of these programs is listed below.
Barton Early Childhood Center Saturday Library Program
This program provided an opportunity for at-risk children to check out age-appropriate games, books, puppets and tapes on the weekend.
Books on Wheels
In an effort to encourage reading in young children, the Junior League of Fort Collins’ Books on Wheels program featured monthly deliveries of new books to daycare providers. More than 60 providers benefited from the program, which provided literature from Scholastic Books for children ages cradle to five years old to help prepare them for school and future academic success.
The Children’s Clinic and Health Van
The Junior League of Fort Collins previously funded a Fort Collins-based children’s health clinic with services available on a sliding scale fee. The effort also included the Health Van, a mobile health clinic serving low-income families who do not have transportation to the Children’s Clinic.
Community Assistance Grant Program
Grants were awarded to assist individuals, programs and organizations in our community that are closely aligned with the Junior League of Fort Collins’ mission and vision.
The Playground at Rolland Moore Park
The Junior League of Fort Collins established a new playground for physically challenged children at Rolland Moore Park.
This project promoted literacy by providing books to at-risk children and families who visit Larimer County agencies. Visiting children could look at or read a book while they were visiting the agency, and could also take a book home. The Fort Collins Home Depot helped Junior League of Fort Collins volunteers build rolling bookshelves and League Members and other donors provided the books.
Sunshine School Renovation
The Junior League of Fort Collins provided new landscaping and paint at this Fort Collins preschool that features a sliding-scale fee for families in need.
